Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Raleigh about 3 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Close to major attractions
- Diverse dining options
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Property taxes are high

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are growing, gas is pretty good.

Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Bought a house here in 2016 and I genuinely enjoy living here. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a social worker, 38, moved here 10 years ago from Raleigh. I've lived in Downtown and West, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Good healthcare facilities
3. Active local events and festivals
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Dating scene is rough
2. Limited entertainment options
3. The healthcare situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Downtown: Great for families. decent vibes, walkable.
- West: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Raleigh, everything felt excellent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $60K-$100K here.

**Final verdict:**
Happy to answer more specific questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a teacher who relocated here from LA about 3 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Lots of new development happening
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Urban sprawl is real

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are pricey, gas is average.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. No regrets on my end..

Hot take but I genuinely enjoy living here. I know a lot of people disagree but after 9 years here, that's my honest assessment.
