Best and worst neighborhoods in Grand Island

Random thought, I'm a remote worker and Homes are going for about $202,600 on average. Rent is about $913/month for a decent place. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. What do you all think? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.

I've been here 13 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The East side vs the Highland side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Compared to Boston it's excellent.

Bought a house here in 2024 and it exceeded my expectations. Property values have gone about the same since then.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from LA and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Highland. It's better than expected for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in construction. If you're in government you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Asian.

Hope this helps!.
