Grand Junction in the winter -how bad?

Random thought, You can expect to pay around $1,101 for rent here. Is this normal for Grand Junction?

Hot take but it's improved dramatically in recent years. I know a lot of people disagree but after 10 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from New York about 1 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Affordable housing options
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are established, gas is decent.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Good luck with whatever you decide..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from Houston and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Pine Hills. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in consulting. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

We moved here with our family and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Schools in Greenfield area are surprisingly good. Kids love it here.
