Relocating to Grand Junction, CO -pros and cons?

Rent is about $1,101/month for a decent place. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Does this match your experience? Property taxes are high but you get good services. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Charlotte and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Old Town. It's pretty good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in education. If you're in consulting you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Asian.

I'm a contractor and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The community is better than expected and there's always something going on.
