What surprised you most about Grand Junction?

OK so I'm single, late 40s, and Rent is about $1,101/month for a decent place.

Used to live on the Lakewood side, now on the The Heights side. Completely different vibe. it was the best decision I ever made.

Came here for retirement and stayed because the quality of life is solid. The housing market is honestly average and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. I love the pace of life here. Compared to Houston it's solid.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Miami and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Sunset. It's hit or miss for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in real estate. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like sushi.

Hope this helps!.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.

I've been here 13 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is tough.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Oak Park side vs the Uptown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Happy to answer more specific questions..
