So, My partner and I are Rent is about $944/month for a decent place. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Let me know your thoughts. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's been a really good experience overall. Internet is better than expected in most areas.

Weather-wise, the summers are pretty good and winters are stable. You get used to it after the first year.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it was the best decision I ever made. Hope this helps!.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Internet is solid in most areas.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 10 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is decent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Downtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Hope this helps!.

Public transit is underrated here. You'll probably need a car for most things. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a teacher who relocated here from Austin about 4 years ago. The main reasons were weather and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good internet infrastructure
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Rising rent and home prices
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are competitive, gas is tough.
Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a nurse, 49, moved here 3 years ago from Minneapolis. I've lived in West and Uptown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Good schools in most areas
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally tough - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Not a lot of cultural diversity
2. Bugs and humidity in summer
3. The traffic situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- West: Great for couples. improving vibes, walkable.
- Uptown: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Minneapolis, everything felt solid. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $90K-$140K here.
**Final verdict:**
It's not for everyone but it works for us.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value community vibe, you'll love it. The housing market is genuinely decent and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. My neighborhood (Pine Hills) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Minneapolis, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've been living here for 3 years and I'd say I have mixed feelings honestly. The outdoor recreation is excellent compared to other places I've lived. Overall Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I'm a real estate agent and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. The community is decent and there's always something going on.
