Random thought, You can expect to pay around $1,470 for rent here. Average temperature is around 69°F, so the weather is moderate. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. Thanks in advance! People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Definitely worth checking out..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are underrated, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. it was the best decision I ever made. Compared to Chicago it's solid.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is cost of living. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Worth doing your research before committing.

I've lived in The Heights for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Salt Lake City, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Good healthcare facilities
- The healthcare scene is underrated
The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Road conditions need improvement
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for retirees. No regrets on my end..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.
I've been here 10 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is better than expected.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Used to live on the Midtown side, now on the Highland side. Completely different vibe. the quality of life is solid.

Bought a house here in 2018 and it exceeded my expectations. Property values have gone about the same since then.

As someone who grew up here, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. A lot has changed in the past few years though. traffic used to be much pricey but now it's solid.
