Cheapest neighborhoods in Grand Rapids?
Anyone else feel this way? My family moved here when I was a kid. Rent is about $1,191/month for a decent place. Average temperature is around 51°F, so expect cold winters. The unemployment rate is 3.4%, which is pretty low. Poverty rate is 13.1%, which is around average. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The suburbs are where most families end up. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The city has invested a lot in new development. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.
