Is it worth buying in Grand Rapids?

Been meaning to ask this. Median household income is $65,526, which feels about average for the area. Household incomes average around $65,526 in Grand Rapids. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. What are your go-to spots? Any help is appreciated.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value healthcare, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely better than expected and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Fairview) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Miami, be prepared for the culture shock. healthcare is completely different here. And Bugs and humidity in summer.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
