Cost of living reality check -Grand Terrace

Alright, I relocated for work and Average temperature is around 65--F, so the weather is moderate. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Is this normal for Grand Terrace? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cost of living, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely improving and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Maple Ridge) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from New York, be prepared for the culture shock. dating scene is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Austin about 6 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good internet infrastructure
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Not very walkable outside downtown

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are developing, gas is excellent.

Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. No regrets on my end..

Public transit is excellent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I love the pace of life here.

As someone who grew up here, the quality of life is solid. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cost of living used to be much stable but now it's challenging.
