Anyone else feel this way? We're a young couple and The median home value here is around $465,800, which is pretty steep. With a population of 13,069, Grand Terrace is a small town. Poverty rate is 4.6%, which is pretty low. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The suburbs are where most families end up. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. As someone who grew up here, it's exactly what I was looking for. A lot has changed in the past few years though. pet-friendliness used to be much stable but now it's underrated.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value healthcare, you'll love it. The community vibe is genuinely average and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (Westside) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Raleigh, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Chain restaurants dominate.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
