Rent in Grand Terrace getting crazy

Hi all, Born and raised here. It's a a small town city with about 13,069 people. Homes are going for about $465,800 on average. With a population of 13,069, Grand Terrace is a small town. The unemployment rate is 4.3%, which is about average. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Any help is appreciated. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The suburbs are where most families end up. I've lived in Old Town for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Affordable housing options
- Strong sense of community
- The safety scene is decent

The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Road conditions need improvement

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for young professionals. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 13 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is hit or miss.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Westside side vs the Lakewood side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
