The good and bad of living in Grandview Plaza

Hi all, You can expect to pay around $946 for rent here. The weather takes some getting used to. The city has invested a lot in new development. Anyone in a similar situation? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Came here for work and stayed because I love the pace of life here. The school system is honestly decent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is walkability. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Worth doing your research before committing.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a software engineer, 50, moved here 2 years ago from Raleigh. I've lived in Riverside and Maple Ridge, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good healthcare facilities
2. Lots of new development happening
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally surprisingly good - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Nightlife is limited
2. Can feel isolated
3. The public transit situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Riverside: Great for singles. surprisingly good vibes, walkable.
- Maple Ridge: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Raleigh, everything felt better than expected. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are developing. Gas is established. You can live comfortably on $80K-$130K here.

**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
