Hey everyone, I'm a college student here and Average temperature is around 73--F, so it's warm year-round. Poverty rate is 5.0%, which is pretty low. Median household income is $120,500, which feels pretty solid for the area. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Anyone in a similar situation? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The weather takes some getting used to. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Seattle and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Lakewood. It's hit or miss for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in education. If you're in finance you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like BBQ.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..
