Biggest downsides of living in Grantsville?

Hey folks, With a population of 13,637, Grantsville is a small town. Average temperature is around 52--F, so expect cold winters. Median household income is $97,216, which feels pretty solid for the area. Poverty rate is 3.4%, which is pretty low. The city has invested a lot in new development. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The suburbs are where most families end up. What neighborhoods would you suggest? The weather takes some getting used to. Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Springfield for 7 years. Moved from Chicago for school. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is average. We bought in 2024 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.

**Employment:**
engineering is strong here. marketing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are pricey for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's exactly what I was looking for. The outdoor scene is hit or miss - we have ski resorts within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Springfield schools are tough. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited public transit options. Winters are long and cold. And weather can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 5/10. Would recommend to anyone considering it.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Phoenix and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in South. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in real estate. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.

People: Generally solid. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like seafood.

Hope this helps!.
