Random thought, I've been here for 19 years and Rent is about $1,103/month for a decent place. The unemployment rate is 1.1%, which is pretty low. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Anyone in a similar situation? It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a contractor, 51, moved here 5 years ago from San Francisco. I've lived in Midtown and Sunset, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Growing food and restaurant scene
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally tough - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Rising rent and home prices
3. The healthcare situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Midtown: Great for young professionals. hit or miss vibes, walkable.
- Sunset: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from San Francisco, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $40K-$100K here.
**Final verdict:**
It's not for everyone but it works for us.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I've been living here for 4 years and I'd say I genuinely enjoy living here. The dating scene is solid compared to other places I've lived. Overall Definitely worth checking out..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Denver and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in East. It's improving for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in construction. If you're in engineering you might struggle.
People: Generally underrated. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like seafood.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it exceeded my expectations. Internet is surprisingly good in most areas.

Used to live on the Greenfield side, now on the Westside side. Completely different vibe. it was the best decision I ever made.
