Hey everyone, Just moved here 2 months ago and Rent is about $866/month for a decent place. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Am I overthinking this? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

I've lived in Old Town for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Chicago, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Four distinct seasons
- The community vibe scene is better than expected
The downsides:
- Limited entertainment options
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for families. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is public transit. the quality of life is solid. Worth doing your research before committing.
