Anyone work in healthcare in Great Falls?
Random thought, What do you all think? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Denver and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Pine Hills. It's tough for what you get.
Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in finance. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.
People: Generally underrated. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I'm a electrician who relocated here from Phoenix about 11 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Lots of new development happening
- Active local events and festivals
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Nightlife is limited
Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are pricey, gas is surprisingly good.
Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Background: I'm a software engineer, 39, moved here 2 years ago from Houston. I've lived in Highland and Cedar Grove, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Good schools in most areas
2. Good internet infrastructure
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally solid - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Chain restaurants dominate
2. Limited entertainment options
3. The cost of living situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Highland: Great for remote workers. decent vibes, walkable.
- Cedar Grove: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

Coming from Houston, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $90K-$80K here.
