It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The suburbs are where most families end up. My experience has been mostly positive. the quality of life is solid. The only thing I'd watch out for is job market. Other than that, Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 7 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is decent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Maple Ridge side vs the Fairview side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
No regrets on my end..
