Longtime lurker here, I relocated for work and Household incomes average around $133,385 in Great River. It's a a small town city with about 1,880 people. Crime rate is something to consider -Great River sits at 22.0 per 100K. Average temperature is around 53--F, so expect cold winters. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The city has invested a lot in new development. The weather takes some getting used to. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The suburbs are where most families end up. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.
I've been here 3 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is tough.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the Old Town side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Hope this helps!.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, the quality of life is solid. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want community vibe, then yeah this place is great. But if safety matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
