How are the schools in Greece?

First post here. Rent is about $1,043/month for a decent place. Household incomes average around $67,223 in Greece. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. What are your go-to spots? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The weather takes some getting used to.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Chicago and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Westside. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in real estate. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a social worker who relocated here from LA about 1 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good schools in most areas
- Strong job market in several industries

Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are manageable, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a data analyst, 29, moved here 9 years ago from Salt Lake City. I've lived in Fairview and Downtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Low crime in most neighborhoods
3. Decent public transit for the size
4. The people are generally pretty good - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Winters are long and cold
2. Road conditions need improvement
3. The food scene situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Fairview: Great for families. improving vibes, walkable.
- Downtown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Salt Lake City, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are competitive. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $90K-$90K here.

**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I've been living here for 11 years and I'd say I love the pace of life here. The cost of living is pretty good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Hope this helps!.
