I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Raleigh about 4 years ago. The main reasons were school and a fresh start.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Close to major attractions
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Can feel isolated
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are manageable, gas is solid.
Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Hope this helps!.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Active local events and festivals
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are developing, gas is underrated.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. No regrets on my end..
