Hi all, Been living here since 2015. Poverty rate is 6.9%, which is pretty low. The unemployment rate is 2.7%, which is pretty low. Median household income is $63,813, which feels about average for the area. Homes are going for about $127,100 on average. The weather takes some getting used to. The suburbs are where most families end up. Is this normal for Green Forest? The weather takes some getting used to. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Houston and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Pine Hills. It's decent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in finance you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

Used to live on the Westside side, now on the West side. Completely different vibe. it's been a really good experience overall.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is nightlife. it was the best decision I ever made. Worth doing your research before committing.

Hot take but it's exactly what I was looking for. I know a lot of people disagree but after 6 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Bought a house here in 2021 and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.
I've been here 7 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is pretty good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Westside side vs the Old Town side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
