Considering Green Knoll vs Charlotte -help me decide

Curious what people think. Homes are going for about $581,600 on average. Household incomes average around $156,630 in Green Knoll. Crime rate is something to consider -Green Knoll sits at 164.2 per 100K. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Anyone in a similar situation? People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The city has invested a lot in new development. Came here for my partner's job and stayed because I love the pace of life here. The housing market is honestly average and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is job market. I have mixed feelings honestly. Worth doing your research before committing.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value walkability, you'll love it. The school system is genuinely improving and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. My neighborhood (Downtown) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Portland, be prepared for the culture shock. job market is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
