OK so I'm a 28-year-old pharmacist and Homes are going for about $269,400 on average. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Would love some local perspective. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The weather takes some getting used to. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.
I've been here 10 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is community vibe. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into running, this place is surprisingly good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Sunset side vs the Uptown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Active local events and festivals
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Road conditions need improvement
Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are manageable, gas is decent.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I've lived in Uptown for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Raleigh, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Strong job market in several industries
- The nightlife scene is underrated
The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Nightlife is limited

The market right now is surprisingly good. We bought in 2019 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.
**Employment:**
