Commute times in Green -how bad?

Hey folks, We're a young couple and It's a a smaller city city with about 27,381 people. The unemployment rate is 1.9%, which is pretty low. The city has invested a lot in new development. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. What are your go-to spots? The suburbs are where most families end up. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Bought a house here in 2017 and it was the best decision I ever made. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from San Francisco and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Highland. It's hit or miss for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in construction. If you're in tech you might struggle.

People: Generally tough. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like Indian.

Definitely worth checking out..

Hot take but it's exactly what I was looking for. I know a lot of people disagree but after 2 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cultural scene, then yeah this place is great. But if pet-friendliness matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are surprisingly good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Came here for a job opportunity and stayed because it's improved dramatically in recent years. The community vibe is honestly surprisingly good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

The food scene here is pretty good. Tons of great Vietnamese places. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

We moved here with our family and I'm still on the fence after all this time. Schools in East area are improving. Kids love it here.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. I have mixed feelings honestly. Compared to Miami it's decent.
