Grocery stores in Green -recommendations?
Anyone else feel this way? I'm a teacher here and Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Thanks!

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a project manager, 57, moved here 7 years ago from Baltimore. I've lived in Downtown and The Heights, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Good schools in most areas
3. Strong job market in several industries
4. The people are generally tough - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Dating scene is rough
2. Bugs and humidity in summer
3. The public transit situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Downtown: Great for couples. surprisingly good vibes, walkable.
- The Heights: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Baltimore, everything felt underrated. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $60K-$100K here.

I've lived in Maple Ridge for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by school system. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Decent public transit for the size
- The walkability scene is tough
The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Summers can be brutally hot
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for couples. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

As someone who grew up here, I'm still on the fence after all this time. A lot has changed in the past few years though. public transit used to be much established but now it's excellent.

I'm a contractor who relocated here from Denver about 15 years ago. The main reasons were work and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good airport with direct flights
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Limited high-paying job options
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are stable, gas is surprisingly good.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Good luck with whatever you decide..

I've been here 12 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is excellent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Springfield side vs the West side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Definitely worth checking out..
