Is Green River worth moving to in 2026?

So, I relocated for work and It's a a small town city with about 11,679 people. The median home value here is around $255,600, which seems about average. Poverty rate is 5.6%, which is pretty low. Median household income is $85,399, which feels pretty solid for the area. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. TIA! Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

I've lived in Springfield for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Portland, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Active local events and festivals
- Affordable housing options
- The healthcare scene is pretty good

The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Property taxes are high

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for young professionals. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 13 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is pretty good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Westside side vs the Fairview side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Feel free to reach out with questions..
