Greendale is underrated, change my mind

So, Crime rate is something to consider -Greendale sits at 92.5 per 100K. Household incomes average around $95,015 in Greendale. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Does this match your experience? Thanks for reading. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. the quality of life is solid. Internet is underrated in most areas.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are solid, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a writer, 49, moved here 6 years ago from San Francisco. I've lived in Lakewood and Old Town, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Lots of new development happening
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally decent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Road conditions need improvement
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The housing market situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Lakewood: Great for families. average vibes, walkable.
- Old Town: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from San Francisco, everything felt excellent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are developing. Gas is affordable. You can live comfortably on $70K-$130K here.

**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

My experience has been mostly positive. it was the best decision I ever made. The only thing I'd watch out for is pet-friendliness. Other than that, It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I've been living here for 1 years and I'd say I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The school system is underrated compared to other places I've lived. Overall Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Public transit is average here. You'll probably need a car for most things. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.

I've been here 11 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is challenging.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The The Heights side vs the Old Town side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Uptown for 7 years. Moved from Phoenix for weather. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is decent. We bought in 2019 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.

**Employment:**
education is strong here. education is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are developing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's not perfect but it works for me. The outdoor scene is excellent - we have mountains within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Uptown schools are challenging. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Property taxes are high. Limited entertainment options. And healthcare can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 8/10. Definitely worth checking out.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
