Random thought, Been living here since 2013. Household incomes average around $69,016 in Greenfield. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Should I be concerned? Appreciate any input. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Hot take but it's improved dramatically in recent years. I know a lot of people disagree but after 11 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I'm a teacher and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. The community is hit or miss and there's always something going on.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value healthcare, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely better than expected and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (East) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Baltimore, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Homeless population growing downtown.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Denver and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Pine Hills. It's challenging for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in engineering. If you're in engineering you might struggle.
People: Generally decent. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Southern.
Definitely worth checking out..

Used to live on the Uptown side, now on the Old Town side. Completely different vibe. it exceeded my expectations.
