Curious what people think. I'm a college student here and Rent is about $643/month for a decent place. The unemployment rate is 5.1%, which is about average. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The weather takes some getting used to. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Bought a house here in 2024 and it's not perfect but it works for me. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

Hot take but it's been a really good experience overall. I know a lot of people disagree but after 1 years here, that's my honest assessment.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it was the best decision I ever made. Internet is tough in most areas.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are solid, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is public transit. I love the pace of life here. Worth doing your research before committing.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.
I've been here 6 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is hit or miss.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Fairview side vs the Sunset side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
