Hey folks, Thoughts? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

I work in engineering here and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The job market for my field is hit or miss. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.
I've been here 15 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is decent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Meadowbrook side vs the Midtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

My experience has been mostly positive. it was the best decision I ever made. The only thing I'd watch out for is outdoor recreation. Other than that, Happy to answer more specific questions..

We moved here with our family and I'm still on the fence after all this time. Schools in Riverside area are underrated. Kids love it here.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Phoenix about 7 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Decent public transit for the size
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Nightlife is limited
Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are growing, gas is hit or miss.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Definitely worth checking out..

Public transit is average here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's exactly what I was looking for.

Hot take but it's exactly what I was looking for. I know a lot of people disagree but after 11 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Used to live on the Old Town side, now on the Fairview side. Completely different vibe. it's not perfect but it works for me.
