Housing market in Greensboro right now

Hello, I work in real estate and The unemployment rate is 3.3%, which is pretty low. Crime rate is something to consider — Greensboro sits at 818.7 per 100K. Average temperature is around 60°F, so the weather is moderate. With a population of 299K, Greensboro is a mid-size city. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. The weather takes some getting used to. The city has invested a lot in new development. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. The city has invested a lot in new development. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The city has invested a lot in new development. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The weather takes some getting used to.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want pet-friendliness, then yeah this place is great. But if walkability matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Bought a house here in 2015 and it's exactly what I was looking for. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I love the pace of life here. Feel free to reach out with questions..

I've lived in Uptown for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Seattle, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good internet infrastructure
- The safety scene is average

The downsides:
- Limited shopping options
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for remote workers. No regrets on my end..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are surprisingly good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Portland, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Decent public transit for the size
- The school system scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for couples. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.

I've been here 7 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into running, this place is challenging.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The East side vs the The Heights side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is housing market. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Worth doing your research before committing.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value nightlife, you'll love it. The school system is genuinely underrated and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (Old Town) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from San Francisco, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Miami about 7 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Lots of new development happening

Cons that are real:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are affordable, gas is solid.

Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Definitely worth checking out..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value housing market, you'll love it. The school system is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Uptown) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Minneapolis, be prepared for the culture shock. walkability is completely different here. And Can feel isolated.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
