Longtime lurker here, I'm originally from Portland and The unemployment rate is 3.3%, which is pretty low. You can expect to pay around $1,114 for rent here. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Am I overthinking this? People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.
