Used to live on the Eastside side, now on the East side. Completely different vibe. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I love the pace of life here. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value school system, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely hit or miss and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. My neighborhood (Greenfield) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Miami, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is cultural scene. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Worth doing your research before committing.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.

I've been here 15 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is underrated.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Lakewood side vs the Fairview side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've lived in The Heights for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Lots of new development happening
- The dating scene scene is solid

The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Chain restaurants dominate

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for remote workers. Definitely worth checking out..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a software engineer, 34, moved here 15 years ago from San Francisco. I've lived in Greenfield and East, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good healthcare facilities
2. Four distinct seasons
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally challenging - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Nightlife is limited
2. Road conditions need improvement
3. The food scene situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Greenfield: Great for remote workers. improving vibes, walkable.
- East: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from San Francisco, everything felt underrated. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $80K-$120K here.

**Final verdict:**
Definitely worth checking out.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
