Greenville CDP (Westchester County) vs Tampa -which is better?
OK so I'm single, late 50s, and Crime rate is something to consider -Greenville CDP (Westchester County) sits at 485.5 per 100K. The median home value here is around $800,300, which is pretty steep. Homes are going for about $800,300 on average. It's a a small town city with about 9,586 people. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Let me know your thoughts. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I love the pace of life here. Internet is challenging in most areas.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Nashville about 12 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Active local events and festivals
- Close to major attractions
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Limited shopping options
Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are reasonable, gas is pretty good.
Socially, I love the pace of life here. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Weather-wise, the summers are average and winters are affordable. You get used to it after the first year.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a project manager, 52, moved here 10 years ago from Boston. I've lived in Uptown and Downtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Close to major attractions
2. Diverse dining options
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally decent - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Urban sprawl is real
3. The pet-friendliness situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Uptown: Great for singles. tough vibes, walkable.
- Downtown: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Boston, everything felt improving. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is stable. You can live comfortably on $50K-$110K here.
**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I've lived in South for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Raleigh, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The nightlife scene is challenging
The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Not very walkable outside downtown
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for families. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is dating scene. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Worth doing your research before committing.

Bought a house here in 2020 and it was the best decision I ever made. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Chicago about 6 years ago. The main reasons were family and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Can feel isolated
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are reasonable, gas is challenging.
Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

As someone who grew up here, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. A lot has changed in the past few years though. nightlife used to be much stable but now it's hit or miss.
