Random thought, My family moved here when I was a kid. Homes are going for about $100,800 on average. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. What do you all think? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

I've lived in Sunset for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Active local events and festivals
- The food scene scene is challenging
The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Can feel isolated
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for singles. Definitely worth checking out..

I'm a accountant and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. The community is surprisingly good and there's always something going on.

Bought a house here in 2020 and I genuinely enjoy living here. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

I work in manufacturing here and it's exactly what I was looking for. The job market for my field is underrated. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from Baltimore and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Riverside. It's improving for what you get.
Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.
People: Generally average. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like Southern.
Feel free to reach out with questions..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a pharmacist, 28, moved here 7 years ago from Denver. I've lived in Maple Ridge and Highland, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Lots of new development happening
2. Good internet infrastructure
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally solid - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Limited high-paying job options
2. Bugs and humidity in summer
3. The walkability situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Maple Ridge: Great for singles. better than expected vibes, walkable.
- Highland: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Denver, everything felt tough. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is established. You can live comfortably on $90K-$90K here.
**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

We moved here with our family and it's not perfect but it works for me. Schools in Lakewood area are excellent. Kids love it here.
