Housing in Greenville compared to Phoenix

Curious what people think. I'm originally from Austin and The median home value here is around $213,100, which is actually reasonable. Poverty rate is 13.5%, which is around average. Rent is about $983/month for a decent place. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Pros:
- Good job market
- Low taxes
- Strong sense of community

Cons:
- Traffic can be terrible
- Boring for young people
- Mosquitoes and humidity
- Far from major airports
Property taxes are high but you get good services. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The city has invested a lot in new development. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value dating scene, you'll love it. The cost of living is genuinely challenging and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (Cedar Grove) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Miami, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
