Affordable areas near Greenville?
Been meaning to ask this. Would love some local perspective. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a writer who relocated here from Phoenix about 12 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Lots of new development happening
- Close to major attractions
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are affordable, gas is excellent.
Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Good luck with whatever you decide..

We moved here with our family and I love the pace of life here. Schools in Oak Park area are pretty good. Kids love it here.

- Low crime in most neighborhoods

- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are wild, gas is excellent.
