I've been here for 4 years and Crime rate is something to consider -Greenville sits at 575.7 per 100K. Median household income is $68,460, which feels about average for the area. With a population of 71,755, Greenville is a smaller city. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Anyone in a similar situation? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Hot take but it's improved dramatically in recent years. I know a lot of people disagree but after 2 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value traffic, you'll love it. The outdoor recreation is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (North) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Miami, be prepared for the culture shock. healthcare is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a lawyer, 35, moved here 1 years ago from Houston. I've lived in Midtown and East, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Good internet infrastructure
2. Active local events and festivals
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally pretty good - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Rising rent and home prices
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The community vibe situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Midtown: Great for young professionals. solid vibes, walkable.
- East: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Houston, everything felt underrated. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $90K-$140K here.
**Final verdict:**
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Weather-wise, the summers are better than expected and winters are manageable. You get used to it after the first year.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Phoenix and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in East. It's surprisingly good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in retail. If you're in finance you might struggle.
People: Generally underrated. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Thai.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in construction. If you're in retail you might struggle.
People: Generally challenging. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.
