Planning a move to Greenville -neighborhoods?

Not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm a college student here and Homes are going for about $453,300 on average. Median household income is $68,460, which feels about average for the area. Rent is about $1,248/month for a decent place. The unemployment rate is 2.7%, which is pretty low. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. TIA! The food scene here is surprisingly good. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The weather takes some getting used to. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The city has invested a lot in new development. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I love the pace of life here. Internet is tough in most areas.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.

I've been here 8 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Highland side vs the Old Town side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Minneapolis about 6 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good airport with direct flights
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are pricey, gas is pretty good.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. No regrets on my end..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is safety. it's been a really good experience overall. Worth doing your research before committing.
