Why I chose Greenville over bigger cities
Been living here since 2009. You can expect to pay around $1,248 for rent here. Homes are going for about $453,300 on average. The unemployment rate is 2.7%, which is pretty low. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The weather takes some getting used to. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.
Pros:
- Friendly people
- Diverse community
- Good internet infrastructure
- Active local events
- Good airport connections
Cons:
- Sprawl everywhere
- High property taxes
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Not enough green space
Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The weather takes some getting used to. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.
