Why I chose Greenville over bigger cities

Been living here since 2009. You can expect to pay around $1,248 for rent here. Homes are going for about $453,300 on average. The unemployment rate is 2.7%, which is pretty low. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The weather takes some getting used to. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Pros:
- Friendly people
- Diverse community
- Good internet infrastructure
- Active local events
- Good airport connections

Cons:
- Sprawl everywhere
- High property taxes
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Not enough green space
Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The weather takes some getting used to. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The city has invested a lot in new development. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

I'm a marketing manager and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. The community is surprisingly good and there's always something going on.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 1 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into running, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Cedar Grove side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..
