I've been living here for 5 years and I'd say I genuinely enjoy living here. The food scene is average compared to other places I've lived. Overall Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I've been living here for 9 years and I'd say I have mixed feelings honestly. The outdoor recreation is underrated compared to other places I've lived. Overall It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Compared to Salt Lake City it's decent.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a HR manager, 49, moved here 10 years ago from Minneapolis. I've lived in Highland and Eastside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Good schools in most areas
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally average - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The cultural scene situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Highland: Great for remote workers. decent vibes, walkable.
- Eastside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Minneapolis, everything felt underrated. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $100K-$70K here.

**Final verdict:**
It's not for everyone but it works for us.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a writer, 39, moved here 5 years ago from San Diego. I've lived in East and Midtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Growing food and restaurant scene
3. Low crime in most neighborhoods
4. The people are generally excellent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Urban sprawl is real
2. Limited shopping options
3. The community vibe situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- East: Great for remote workers. pretty good vibes, walkable.
- Midtown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from San Diego, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is established. You can live comfortably on $80K-$140K here.

**Final verdict:**
Would recommend to anyone considering it.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.

I've been here 7 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The South side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Tampa about 9 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Strong sense of community
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Road conditions need improvement

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are pricey, gas is solid.

Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Weather-wise, the summers are better than expected and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.

Public transit is decent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's not perfect but it works for me.
