Longtime lurker here, Average temperature is around 52--F, so expect cold winters. With a population of 64,237, Greenwood is a smaller city. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The city has invested a lot in new development. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The weather takes some getting used to. The suburbs are where most families end up. The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cost of living, then yeah this place is great. But if weather matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

My experience has been mostly positive. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The only thing I'd watch out for is public transit. Other than that, Hope this helps!.

Bought a house here in 2018 and it's been a really good experience overall. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Salt Lake City and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Old Town. It's surprisingly good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in tech you might struggle.
People: Generally challenging. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like seafood.
Definitely worth checking out..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a accountant, 55, moved here 10 years ago from Pittsburgh. I've lived in Highland and Old Town, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Lots of new development happening
2. Active local events and festivals
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Winters are long and cold
2. Property taxes are high
3. The healthcare situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Highland: Great for couples. pretty good vibes, walkable.
- Old Town: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Pittsburgh, everything felt better than expected. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $50K-$130K here.
**Final verdict:**
Definitely worth checking out.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

As someone who grew up here, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. A lot has changed in the past few years though. traffic used to be much stable but now it's hit or miss.

My experience has been mostly positive. I'm still on the fence after all this time. The only thing I'd watch out for is housing market. Other than that, Would recommend to anyone considering it..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I genuinely enjoy living here. Internet is pretty good in most areas.
