I'm retired and The median home value here is around $98,500, which is actually reasonable. Crime rate is something to consider -Greenwood sits at 1,238.3 per 100K. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Any help is appreciated. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The suburbs are where most families end up. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The weather takes some getting used to.

I've lived in Midtown for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from San Francisco, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Active local events and festivals
- The traffic scene is average
The downsides:
- Dating scene is rough
- Limited entertainment options
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for remote workers. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Eastside. It's underrated for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in engineering. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.
People: Generally pretty good. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like seafood.
Feel free to reach out with questions..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a lawyer, 32, moved here 6 years ago from San Diego. I've lived in Uptown and The Heights, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Decent public transit for the size
2. Four distinct seasons
3. Close to major attractions
4. The people are generally decent - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Can feel isolated
2. Homeless population growing downtown
3. The dating scene situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Uptown: Great for retirees. solid vibes, walkable.
- The Heights: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from San Diego, everything felt solid. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are established. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $70K-$120K here.
**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
