Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value job market, you'll love it. The dating scene is genuinely improving and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (Sunset) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Portland, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Dating scene is rough.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Springfield. It's average for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in tech. If you're in construction you might struggle.

People: Generally solid. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: improving. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. it's been a really good experience overall. Compared to Salt Lake City it's excellent.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.

I've been here 5 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is community vibe. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is pretty good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the Westside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
