Pros and cons of Greenwood after 4 years

I'm a 30-year-old teacher and Crime rate is something to consider -Greenwood sits at 1,494.0 per 100K. The median home value here is around $123,400, which is actually reasonable. The suburbs are where most families end up. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a project manager who relocated here from Atlanta about 5 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good healthcare facilities
- Decent public transit for the size

Cons that are real:
- Can feel isolated
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are wild, gas is improving.

Socially, it exceeded my expectations. No regrets on my end..

I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Diverse dining options
- The walkability scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for young professionals. Hope this helps!.
