Dog-friendly places in Greer?

Not sure if this has been asked before, but It's a a smaller city city with about 39,191 people. Average temperature is around 61--F, so the weather is moderate. Crime rate is something to consider -Greer sits at 433.7 per 100K. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. What would you do? Thanks! The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The weather takes some getting used to. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The city has invested a lot in new development.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Chicago and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Oak Park. It's average for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in government. If you're in education you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like seafood.

Definitely worth checking out..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Midtown for 3 years. Moved from LA for quality of life. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is tough. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.

**Employment:**
hospitality is strong here. consulting is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are stable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The outdoor scene is better than expected - we have hiking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Midtown schools are better than expected. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Nightlife is limited. Road conditions need improvement. And pet-friendliness can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 6/10. Good luck with whatever you decide.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.

I've been here 6 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The West side vs the South side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are pretty good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value food scene, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely improving and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (Old Town) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Miami, be prepared for the culture shock. healthcare is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
