Random thought, The median home value here is around $264,300, which seems about average. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely hit or miss and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Fairview) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Minneapolis, be prepared for the culture shock. public transit is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Raleigh about 10 years ago. The main reasons were weather and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Four distinct seasons
Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Road conditions need improvement
Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are stable, gas is excellent.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Hope this helps!.

As someone who grew up here, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. A lot has changed in the past few years though. walkability used to be much manageable but now it's decent.
