Moving to Gresham -what should I know?

OK so Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Would love some local perspective.

Bought a house here in 2016 and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

The food scene here is solid. Tons of great seafood places. it's improved dramatically in recent years.

I've been living here for 10 years and I'd say there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The community vibe is average compared to other places I've lived. Overall Feel free to reach out with questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a electrician who relocated here from Minneapolis about 2 years ago. The main reasons were work and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good schools in most areas
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are manageable, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, the quality of life is solid. Hope this helps!.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. it's not perfect but it works for me. Compared to Pittsburgh it's pretty good.

I'm a HR manager and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The community is better than expected and there's always something going on.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I have mixed feelings honestly. Internet is solid in most areas.

Hot take but it's not perfect but it works for me. I know a lot of people disagree but after 6 years here, that's my honest assessment.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a physical therapist, 52, moved here 2 years ago from Boston. I've lived in Fairview and Eastside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Lots of new development happening
2. Four distinct seasons
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally solid - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Winters are long and cold
3. The outdoor recreation situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Fairview: Great for remote workers. average vibes, walkable.
- Eastside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Boston, everything felt better than expected. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $100K-$120K here.

**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

As someone who grew up here, it's exactly what I was looking for. A lot has changed in the past few years though. safety used to be much pricey but now it's hit or miss.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a teacher, 27, moved here 4 years ago from San Francisco. I've lived in West and South, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Friendly community, easy to meet people
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Homeless population growing downtown
3. The cost of living situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- West: Great for retirees. better than expected vibes, walkable.
- South: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from San Francisco, everything felt decent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $40K-$130K here.

**Final verdict:**
It's not for everyone but it works for us.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
